People are valuable. Treat them like it.
Someone said I wish I had a brother like you. I said I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for James always reaching out to me. When nobody cared about me, he still did and at great expense.
Sometimes he didn’t know what to say.
Sometimes he just listened.
Sometimes he just reached out.
Most of all, he would notice when I wasn’t there. I mattered.
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
So reach out and welcome one another to God’s glory. Jesus did it; now you do it!
Jesus, staying true to God’s purposes, reached out in a special way to the Jewish insiders so that the old ancestral promises would come true for them.
Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law.
If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived.
Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others.
Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.
Be very sure now, you who have been trained to a self-sufficient maturity, that you enter into a generous common life with those who have trained you, sharing all the good things that you have and experience.
You don’t always need to know what to say...
Reach out
Listen to them.
Notice they aren’t there.
Invite them.
