Good afternoon to everyone.
God bless you all for joining in on this session of "Fun with the Lord."
We thank God for _____ .
God is still Good and he is still in control of everything that goes on in our lives.
Thank the Lord for each one of our teachers today and for their commitment to make this an enjoyable, good learning and fun time.
Certainly, we thank the Lord for each and every student who has joined in.
We thank the Lord for your parents and those who watch and take care of you every day.
I am always glad to be apart of us learning more about the Lord and what he wants us to do.
Today, our lesson is taken from the book of James in the New Testament. Chapter 2, verses 1-13. It's an important lesson in that it talks about considering how others feel.
As Christians we are suppose to always be considerate of the people around us. We are to treat everyone right. Why? because we want others to treat us right as well.
When we treat others right, the Lord sees it. Whether they are our family, neighbors, or our friends. Every person that we meet is different in some sort of way. Some people are tall, some are short. Some are old, some are young. Some are black, some are white or Spanish. Some speak English, some speak another language. Some are boys, some are girls. People come in all sizes and people dress up in all different colors. There are many people in the world that believe that having a whole lot of money, clothes, tennis shoes is a sign that the Lord is blessing a person. They think that if the Lord is blessing this person, then we should honor that person also. On the other hand, if a person does not have a lot of money, clothes, tennis shoes, some think that their relationship with the Lord is not good, and we should not treat them the same way that we treat someone that has those things. But should people that have a whole lot of money, things, stuff, get treated better than someone who does not have those things? Are rich people loved by the Lord more than people who don't have a lot?
The Lord’s way is just the opposite of how most people think. The Lord says that, those who don’t have a lot in this world (money, clothes, tennis shoes, games,) are the ones who will definitely go to heaven if they love him.
So its not a matter of how much a person has or owns that the Lord looks at, but it’s a matter of who loves the Lord and treats other people right.
The other thing that the Lord sees that most people cannot see is what’s on the inside of all of us.
If I was there in front of all of you right now, and if I took let’s say 10 lemons and put them on a table, you would notice that all of the lemons were shaped different.
Some of them, might have a scar on them, some might be rounder than others, some might be yellower than others.
But if I were to take a knife and peel the yellow skin off of all the lemons, we all would notice that they all look the same on the inside.
We would not be able to tell what lemon had a scar, what lemon was yellower, because they all would look the same.
That’s how the Lord sees all of us
Even though people are all different on the outside, we are all the same on the inside.
That's what our lesson talks about today. Please listen carefully and pay attention today to get the right understanding of the way the Lord wants us to act when we come in contact with someone who has a lot and someone that does not have much.
Upon getting prepared for this lesson today, I was impressed by a video that brings our whole lesson into the right perspective.
It’s about 3-4 minutes long. Let’s look and see
Even though people are all different on the outside, we are somewhat the same on the inside.
