Matthew 25:14-30 Every One Gets Their Fair Responsibility

The Parable of the Talents

Mat 25:14  For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. 

Jesus many times gives illustrations by using the phrase “the kingdom of heaven is as”

Mat 4:17  From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.  This refers to the Gospel kingdom of salvation that was coming by the Jesus’ death, burial, resurrection and the outpouring of the Holy Ghost.

Mat 7:21  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  Refers to the glorious reign with Jesus after his second coming.

Mat 13:24  Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 

Mat 13:25  But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.  This is the general earthly church family which contains both true and false members.

5. In our sermon today we see the reward and the punishment of both the faithful servant of God and the unfaithful servant.

6. The scripture has given us to know that Jesus will reward every man according to his labour on this earth.

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 

Rev 22:12  And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 

know today that every man will have to give an account of his works in this earth. And good or bad, God will give all their just due compensation.

A Talent was equivalent to 15 years wages.

we all have a commission:

we all are given talents;

1Co 12:28  And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 

Eph 4:10  He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) 

Eph 4:11  And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 

Eph 4:12  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 

we all have a cross to bear

Luk 9:23  And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 

Luk 9:24  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
