The Altar, what is it?
An alter is a structure upon which offering such as sacrifices are made for religious purposes.
Noah builds an altar for sacrifice

20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.

7 Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” And there he built an altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him. 8 And he moved from there to the mountain east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; there he built an altar to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD. 9 So Abram journeyed, going on still toward the South.

Types of altars:
A place of encounter (Jacob’s crisis and altar)
a place of forgiveness
a place of worship (altar of incense)
a place of covenant (Abraham’s altar)
a place of intercession
Some Offerings that were left at the altar:
The peace offering (Brought to express happiness or gratitude)
The sin offering (Brought to ask forgiveness, today we receive mercy and cleansing)
The trespass offering ( When uncertain if you have sinned, the High Priest sins, the King sins)
The importance of the altar within our church
Covid-19 effect (Satan’s attempt to draw saints away from the altar of God

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

The importance of getting to church and to the altar that has been established where God meets with us.
We can not come to God any old way. God has established an order to knowing Him.

“For I am the LORD, I do not change;

Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.

The importance of offerings made at the altar:
Peace offering
Tithes and offerings
Worship and Thanksgiving
Prayers of Gratitude
Sin Offering
The Altar a place where God is glorified:
Testimony of witnessing many miracles
Place where we can lead others to Jesus (beginning of Salvation)
Place where through covenant, we can find God.

21 You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the Testimony that I will give you. 22 And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel.

Finally, Hold onto and keep the altar Sacred, it is where we find life.
