HOOK

DO NOT FORGET TO UNMUTE
It’s the 24th day of November— Tuesday!
Yesterday right here at “The Message” we gleaned on the sermon of Paul at Pisidian Antioch— he started his message dating back to the Old Testament from the time of Moses— to the time of the judges and kings— Paul gave focus on the King David being the ancestor of our Lord Jesus— and from that, a biblical principle and a life application came out clear:
PEOPLE LOOK AT THE OUTWARD APPEARANCE, BUT THE LORD LOOKS AT THE HEART
I WILL SERVE GOD’S PURPOSE IN MY LIFE BEFORE I DIE
We split this section into two since it was quite long to cover with the limited time we have for every episode— today let’s take a look at the second half of this section when Paul and Barnabas was in Pisidian Antioch— open your Bible to ACTS 13:42-52— and once you get there type, “Pisidian Antioch”
When studying the Bible, look for words that defines the CHARACTER of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit— keep an eye on COMMANDS to obey— good EXAMPLES to follow, and bad examples to avoid— PROMISES that you could claim— sins to CONFESS— CHALLENGES you encountered— and ENCOURAGEMENT to keep you going
READ ACTS 13:42-52

BOOK

Acts 13:42–52 NIV
42 As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people invited them to speak further about these things on the next Sabbath. 43 When the congregation was dismissed, many of the Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who talked with them and urged them to continue in the grace of God. 44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. 45 When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy. They began to contradict what Paul was saying and heaped abuse on him. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. 47 For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “ ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” 48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. 49 The word of the Lord spread through the whole region. 50 But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. 51 So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium. 52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

LOOK

WHEN THE JEWS SAW THE CROWDS, THEY WERE FILLED WITH JEALOUSY
They began to oppose what Paul was saying— they abused them— Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly saying that they had to share the good news to them first— they were commanded to ROMANS 1:16
SINCE YOU REJECT IT AND DO NOT CONSIDER YOURSELVES WORTHY OF ETERNAL LIFE
We know turn to the Gentiles, Paul and Barnabas said— to make the connection between the Suffering Servant [Isaiah] and the Lord Jesus, he quoted ISAIAH 49:6
ALL WHO WERE APPOINTED FOR ETERNAL LIFE BELIEVED
This is not where I am going to focus today, but I’d just like to point this out as reminder to everyone that people who believed, and who are still to believe are appointed [in other words elected, predestined]— EPHESIANS 1:5, ROMANS 8:29-30
THEY STIRRED UP PERSECUTION AGAINST PAUL AND BARNABAS
They incited God-fearing men and women leading the city— They drove them out of their region
SO THEY SHOOK THE DUST OF THEIR FEET AS A WARNING TO THEM
Jesus commanded the disciples to shake the dust off their feet when they left any place that rejected them and the message they bring— MATTHEW 10:14, MARK 6:11 and LUKE 9:5
This signaled that the people were now responsible for their own fate— God also said something about this through EZEKIEL 3:18-19
Keywords from our devotional study today are JEALOUSY, REJECTION, PERSECUTION and EXPULSION— have you experienced being rejected, persecuted and expelled?— if you did, you’re not alone!
Two things came clear out of our study today..

TOOK

JEALOUSY LEADS TO REJECTION, PERSECUTION AND EXPULSION
IF THE GOSPEL IS REJECTED, I WILL SHAKE THE DUST OFF MY FEET AND MOVE ON
