The Way: John 14:6

When we consider Advent, we consider the coming of Christ. It is the promise shrouded in Genesis 3:15 is revealed with greater clarify as the story of the Old Testament progresses.

The purpose of the coming of Jesus was to be the sacrifice for the sins of His people. Isaiah 53 provides us with a glimpse into the mind of God the Father as He predicts the torture of His Son, Jesus. In fact, Isaiah 53:5 gives us the purpose of Messiah’s coming, “He was wounded because of our rebellious deeds, crushed because of our sins; he endured punishment that made us well,”

That is, Jesus died on behalf of His people to make us right. This is the teaching of the New Testament (see 2 Cor. 5:19-21).
