I Can Honor God With My Worship

Today we are continuing on what we have been talking about the past few weeks. Can anyone that has been here tell me what we have been taking about?

A: I Can Honor God

Yes! The last few weeks we have been talking about how WE (I) CAN HONOR GOD. Last week we learned that when we tithe to the storehouse (Our local church/ NewSong) that we honor God. He dose not need our money ,but we should tithe because it bring honor to God!

So today we continues this thought with what we are talking about to. Can anyone remember what we are taking about today?

A: I Can Honor God With My Worship

Worship! And like i said before we are going to be looking at a story found in 2 Chronicles 20. Jehoshaphat was a king of Judah, one of the tribes of Israel. And right off the bat Jehoshaphat know how to honor God. 2 Chronicles 17:3 says that God was with him because he walked in the ways of David. In fact he experiences the very thing that are theme verce say Luke 6:38.( Anyone remember what that is)

2 Chronicles 17:3–5 ESV

3 The Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek the Baals, 4 but sought the God of his father and walked in his commandments, and not according to the practices of Israel. 5 Therefore the Lord established the kingdom in his hand. And all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor.

See because Jehoshaphat gave honor God reward him for that. But there is a particle problem that arises in the life of Jehoshaphat that will help us today with learning how worship can honor God.

BAD THINGS HAPPEN

So in the life of Jehoshaphat, if you want to read this for yourself it can be found in 2 Chronicles 20, but 3 armies come up against the king. Now I would have no problem again 3 vs 1 because I’m just a beast, but for Jehoshaphat this was a huge problem.

Now you would thing that with the great job that he was doing honoring God what nothing bad would ever happen to him but this in not true. And its the same for us.

John 16:33 ESV

33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Jesus say that there will be trouble

John 10:10 ESV

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

There is an enemy that want to take your very life.

Now we are not facing armies in are day to day life but bad things happen to us.

Those are just a few things and y’all probably have more. Bad things happen guy , and I wish i could put a bubble over every single on of y’all to make it where nothing bad every happens to you but that is not something i can do. BUT WHAT WE CAN DO IT REMEMBER GOD WORD

REMEMBER WHAT GOD’S WORD SAY

Now like i said, i can’t put a bubble around you that stops you ever having bad things happen to you, but a great reaction or response to bad things happening is to remember what God says in his Word.

John 16:33 ESV

God’s word reminds us that we will be reunited with loved ones when Jesus comes back. She will see her grandpa, i will see my grandpa, I have a grandma that i would like to see again AND I GET TO

God’s word remind us that we are healed because of what Jesus did

God’s word say he will never leave you or forsake you

Pier pressure/ Matthew 16:23

God’s word reminds us that ever Jesus had pier pressure and how important it is to turn away from that.

We must remember what God’s word says about us and to us. That’s why it’t important to read God’s word.

when we read God’s word it like loading up for when the enemy attacks.

WORSHIP GOD FIRST

2 Chronicles 20:18–19 ESV

18 Then Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord, worshiping the Lord. 19 And the Levites, of the Kohathites and the Korahites, stood up to praise the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.

Instead of getting ready for the battle, going to get the best weapons and armor, he bowes his head and begins to worship God First.

See before he did this Jehoshaphat sought the council of God and prayed. God responded to his prayer and the response that he gives is worship first.(refuse back to the illustration/video).

Though are worship of God is not even close to equal to all that God is a response of worship bring Honor to God, and it most come first when we find ourselves in places that seem bad.

When we respond in worship, God respond back with victory and deliverance.

2 Chronicles 20:22–23 ESV

22 And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set an ambush against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed. 23 For the men of Ammon and Moab rose against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, devoting them to destruction, and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they all helped to destroy one another.

When we worship God first, and honor him God makes things happen for are good in are life.
