Hanukkah is an 8 day celeberation of the many victories and miracles worked on behalf of the Jewish people during a time of Assyrian oppression. The Assyrians where trying to replace all of the Jewish culture, faith, and laws with their own. All resistance was met with harsh punishments and often times terrible deaths. During this time a Family named Maccabee arose to lead the Jewish people.
