SERIES INTRODUCTION: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS SONG?
Today we are starting a new series on the songs of Christmas.
SERMON INTRODUCTION: Bargain hunters? Black Friday deals? We buy stuff, not because we need it because its a good deal.
In some ways ...........????
CONTEXT:

1. Praise Him because He Saw us.

Luke 1:46–47 ESV
46 And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
Magnify - praise him - Magnificat.
Luke 1:48 ESV
48 for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed;
“Humble estate of his servant” likely 13-14 year old girl.
Some say she did not exist. But no records of young girls from Nazareth existed!
She was a little girl from Brooksville.
She willinglly calls herself God’s slave or servant.
all generations will call me blessed - she knew this was a big deal. An angel visited her.
What I love about this, she is talking to Elizabeth, a godly older woman, who God has going through something very similar to help her.
God called her to something scary, but also provided someone to help her.
“What God guides, he provides.”
Luke 1:49 ESV
49 for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
He who is mighty…for me> One of the hardest things to graspe.
and holy is his name. - She knew God is doing something wonderful, but she knew it was because of God, not because of her.
Mercy for those who fear him - Those who fear him need his mercy.
She was praising the Lord, all the while knowing I am going to have to tell Joseph and my family and everyone that I am with child.
The only reason she was being used by God is because she feared him.
She was 14! Meaning it is never to old or young to serve him!
The right mindset: I am a humble servant. He is mighty and Holy.

God still sees you and what you’re going through.

2. Praise Him because He is Mighty. (Luke 1:51-53)

Luke 1:51–53 ESV
51 He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; 52 he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; 53 he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.
Who do you want to be here?
We spend all our time to be strong, mighty, rich. He brings down the proud.
Instead he exults the humble. Like a poor teenage girl.

God is still intervening.

3. Praise Him because He is faithful.

Luke 1:54 ESV
54 He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy,
Luke 1:55 ESV
55 as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”
As he spoke - there was 400 years of silence.
Sit in quite for 30 seconds.
Luke 1:56 ESV
56 And Mary remained with her about three months and returned to her home.

God still remembers His people.
