It amazes me how our God works
As I read through the bible I realize that No one but the Holy Spirit of God could have inspired the writing of His word
And it amazes me how God shows us, reveals to us, our Lord and Savior
How He instructs us
The life of Jesus Christ is not only told in the New Testament, but is also told throughout the Old Testament as a whole I also realize how many times I fall short of His will
Earlier this weak God led me to a passage that echoes that perfectly for myself and probably many others How our God is so Awesome, but...Do we Declare Jesus like we should? we declare Him for ourselves and,Do we tell others of His glory
1 I waited patiently for the Lord; And he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.
4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, And respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, And thy thoughts which are to us-ward: They cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered.
6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; Mine ears hast thou opened: Burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come: In the volume of the book it is written of me,
8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: Yea, thy law is within my heart.
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: Lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest.
10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
This is a psalm of David
But, it is more than that
It is a testimony of David as a Testimony of Jesus Christ
Remember Jesus had not been born into this world yet
But His prophecy is foretold all through the Old Testament
Verse 1...”I waited patiently for the Lord”
When we go to God for whatever reason how often do we Wait…Wait patiently?
Waiting is an idea we are not very comfortable with
Instead we want an answer from God Right Now
Instead we want an answer from God Right Now”
But, even Jesus waited
We need to learn from our Savior’s example to wait patiently on God
We need to be willing and ready to wait
In God’s own time and fashion He will come to our side
“He inclined unto me, and heard my cry”
Verse 2...He brought me up also out of an horrible pit”
Notice that David calls it a “miry clay”
Sin sucks us in
Life is full of bogs and pits we can fall into
Whether we are lost, backslid-en, or even us who are trying to live right for God, we all fall prey to sin
And sometimes we just have to wade through the muck of life
But, the good news is that God can and will deliver us
God can bring us out just as He did when He rose Christ from the grave
Notice this is a Song of Deliverance
And God will deliver us out of the grips of sin
If we wait patiently and allow Him too, God will lift us up
“And set my feet upon a rock…and established my goings”
Not only will He deliver us, but He will make our footsteps firm (Secure)
So, this is also a Song of Direction
God plants our feet on solid rock and He lights our path
Deliverance leads to Direction if we wait patiently with willingness and readiness for God to work
He takes us out of that trap we are in, that “Miry Clay” and sets us on the right path for spiritual success
Verse 3...”And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God”
God changes us
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
We will be a changed person and will want to shout praises to God and “Declare Jesus”, first to ourselves, and then to the world
It becomes our testimony to others
“Many shall see it, and fear, and trust in the Lord”
When we look at the resurrection of Jesus, think of how many souls have been won with the miracle of the empty tomb
Are we declaring Jesus?
How great is what He has done for us
People will see that change when we “declare Jesus” and live it in our lives
Verse 4...”Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust”
When He has Delivered us and given us new Direction why wouldn’t we want to trust in Him?
5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, And thy thoughts which are to us-ward: They cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered.
We can’t even count the wonderful things He has done for us
He will work miracles in our lives if we only allow ourselves to trust Him
6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; Mine ears hast thou opened: Burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
God prepared a human body for His son
And He say’s, “Mine ears hast thou opened”
Christ was always ready to receive instruction from the Father, and to obey Him
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
God had implemented Sacrifices and offerings in the Old Testament covenant but it was not His ultimate intention
They were designed to point forward to the Lamb of God
Only Jesus would bear away the sins of the world
God wanted a sacrifice of a broken heart
That’s what God desires for us
I’ll ask again, “Are we declaring Jesus”?
7 Then said I, Lo, I come: In the volume of the book it is written of me,
During the Old Testament it is foretold that Christ would come into the world and would be an eager and ready spirit to do God’s will
The will of God was not just in His head, but was inscribed in His heart
Just as it shall be written in our hearts
8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: Yea, thy law is within my heart.
David knew his Deliverance had come from God
Christ knew his Deliverance had come from God
He had a “new song” in His mouth, but also in His heart
Jesus changes us from the inside out, first in our hearts, then in our lives and our testimony
“I delight to do thy will”
Are we declaring Jesus?
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: Lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest.
10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
“I have declared thy faithfulness of thy salvation”
God will deliver us
God will give us direction
He will change us and make us new
Then we can sing a Song of Devotion
Deliverance from the grips of sin
Direct us on the right path
Give us Devotion to God, and
Declare to the world the gospel of Jesus Christ
6 Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: Thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.
Who is the Right Hand?
Christ has already defeated satan
The battle is won
There is nothing He can’t do, there is nothing He can’t deliver us out of
Are we declaring Jesus?
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Are you looking for Deliverance?Jesus can give it
Do you need Direction in you r life?Jesus can light the way
Are you ready to Devote your life to Him?
He can give you a testimony like no other
Declare Jesus today!
