Will your light shine bright?

Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.  – Matthew 5:16

Jesus tells us in the book of Matthew to be the “salt of the earth.”  If the salt loses its taste it is to be considered worthless.  Our true value comes when we live our lives amongst the world and act as its salt.  Only then, can we preserve truth, make it a better place, and glorify our Father amongst the lost.

The Vaughn Hill family is called to be a “light to the world.”  Jesus is the light that we hold up in a world full of darkness and sin.  For us to be a true light – we have to be amongst the world and let them see Jesus in us.  We are called to put this light “on a stand” for all to see.

We have to have our focus on reaching the lost with the truth of Jesus.  Our mission each day ought to be living like Christ and telling others about what he has done for us.  Our goal is to bring the sick to the one and only physician that can heal them – Jesus Christ.

Mark 2 tells us of the 4 men who carried a paralyzed man to Jesus.  They worked together through adversity and obstacles to reach their goal.  Because of faith, this paralyzed man was able to walk again and have all his sins forgiven.  Part of our success will be determined by how well we work together like these 4 men did.  Evangelism is a team effort and it needs every member of the Vaughn Hill family to be a part of it.  We can accomplish great things together!

On Friday, June 27th, we have been presented with a great opportunity.  We’ve been asked to help again this year with the Relay for Life.  This public event will help us to be the “salt of the earth”, glorify our Father, be a “light to the world”, show the love of Jesus to the sick, and work together as a Christian family.  We need enough people involved on this night to really make a difference.  It’s an opportunity unlike many others that we take on throughout the year.  This is a great time to show others that Jesus cares for them. 

We can only “shine the light” when we are in the world.  To light the world we must be amongst it.  As a family, we have to take Jesus to them.  Please commit to being a part of this effort.  See Harlan if you have any questions about how you can help.
