How Will I Know?

1 John 2:3 NCV
3 We can be sure that we know God if we obey his commands.
Confession of Faith
I am not moved by what I see or by what I feel. I am moved by what I believe. I believe the WORD of God! The victory is mine! I have it now! I can see it through the eyes of my faith! In Jesus Name!
Introduction:
How will you know if you really know God?
These are crazy times!
We live in a day when many folks are not even interested in knowing God. Some people including family and friends could care less about knowing God.
I see them - They want to live like they want and get all the possessions and enjoy all the pleasures of the world they can.
To know God is the last or the furthest thing from their minds.
But this mindset - this lifestyle is dangerous ground!
Because if God really exists then the one’s who reject God are going to miss out:
They are going to miss out on real purpose, real meaning, and real significance of life;
they are going to miss out on real love, real joy, real peace and real abundance of a life that is rich and fulfilling not only now but tomorrow and eternally.
If God really exists and we fail to know Him, we miss out on all of what life really is.
Why am I reminding us of this? Because God created life and He knows what life should be.
So, if we do not know God, the God who gave us life, then we miss out on everything that God meant life to be.
But this is not all that the rejector’s will face if they do not know God.
Ok, If God exists, then it means that all those who reject Him must face His holiness and justice.
They must stand before Him having rejected Him and face His judgment.
The point is clear: we must know God. But how can we tell if we really know Him?

Do we keep God's commandments?

1 John 2:3 The Message
3 Here’s how we can be sure that we know God in the right way: Keep his commandments.
Ok, here is the problem:
If God really exists, you won’t ever know it using human reasoning, energy or effort!
Keeping in transparency - No matter how much thought or creative thinking and inner feelings you may have, you can never be sure if God exists—not trying to figure it out by yourself
There is a clear reason for this.
We live in a physical and material world, and the physical and material world cannot penetrate or cross over into the spiritual world
If we are to know the spiritual world, if we are to know God,
Then God has to enter the physical and material world and reveal Himself to us
This is exactly what God has done.
God has sent His Son Jesus Christ into the world to tell us the truth:
To tell us the truth about God,
To tell us the truth about ourselves
To tell us the truth about this world we live in
To tell us the truth about the world to come
This is exactly what Jesus Christ said time and time again
This is what the disciples said time and time again This is exactly what the scripture talks about in the 66 books that comprise the Bible!
John 6:33 NKJV
33 For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
John 6:38 NKJV
38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
John 6:50–51 NCV
50 Here is the bread that comes down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will never die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give up so that the world may have life.”
Jesus Christ born in a manger came to save us from perishing and to give us an abundant life both now and eternally.
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Jesus said that God the father sent Him to make reveal himself to us
John 6:29 NKJV
29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
John 7:28 NCV
28 Jesus, teaching in the Temple, cried out, “Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. But I have not come by my own authority. I was sent by the One who is true, whom you don’t know.
Hear me - This is something very significant:
If we are to know God, we must know Jesus Christ.
God has revealed Himself and made Himself known through Jesus and through Jesus alone.
Therefore, to know God we must know Jesus Christ whom He has sent.
How will I know if I know God?
When I believe in Jesus Christ, then we know God.
1 John 2:3 HCSB
3 This is how we are sure that we have come to know Him: by keeping His commands.
So what’s the commandments
1 John 3:23 NKJV
23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
To know God we must believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ.
If we believe in Christ, then we come to know God, for Jesus Christ came to earth to reveal God.
By believing in Jesus Christ we keep God's commandment.
To know God we must love one another. Love covers all the commandments of God.
If we love one another, we will not hurt or cause pain for one another; we will not offend or sin against one another.
We will be keeping all the commandments of God.
This is exactly what Scripture declares.
Romans 13:8–10 NKJV
8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
How will I know if I know God?
Do you keep God's commandments?
If you keep God's commandments, then you believe in Jesus Christ,
You believe that he is God's Son,
You believe that we love one another.
You believe that We surrender all we are and have to Jesus Christ and to loving one another.
See, unless we are doing these two things, we do not know God.
No matter what a person may say, they do not know God if they have never given their life to Jesus Christ.
You cannot know God, if all you do is criticizes
You cannot know God if all you do is grumbles, and backbite
You cannot know God if you commit adultery,
You cannot know God if you kill
You cannot know God if you steal
You cannot know God if you lie
You cannot know God if you are doing anything to to hurt an brother or sister
If you really know God, then you want to please God.
You wants to know more and more about God, and the only way you can know more and more about God is to follow God.
You must do the things that God does,
You must desire to walk and love as God walks and loves.
The more you walk and love as God does, the more you will come to know God.
Therefore, if we keep His commandments, we know Him.
This is the way we can tell if we know Him, the only way.
John 8:31 NLT
31 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.
Thought.
Some people seek to know God.
They seek after God, but they do it in the wrong way.
Some speculate about God. This is the route most people take in trying to know God. They imagine what God is like and hold that image in their mind and try to live by what they imagine.
They have their own teachings and their own images of what God is like, and they govern their lives by that image.
Some try to seek and know God by mystical or emotional experiences. They seek to know the spiritual world and its focus through spiritists, astrology, seances, magic, and a host of other man-made mystical experiences.
But the bible tells us
1 John 2:3 GNB
3 If we obey God’s commands, then we are sure that we know him.
