Zechariah holds a unique place in the story of Jesus: he was the first to hear a message from God after 400 years of silence and to top it off, he was told that his prayer had been heard. What was his response? He replied, “How can this be?” As quick as we are to point to Zechariah, that is often the response we have to God’s love. “For God so loved the world... he died for ME... how can this be?” Advent reminds us that as unbelievable as it is, LOVE works on our behalf!
