When I wake up in the middle of the night, I pray for whatever is on my mind. This month, while we are awaiting the final results of the election for who will be the next president of the United States, I’ve been asking God to cut the cords of wickedness which have a grasp on our nation and literally on this world. I’m also asking Him to exalt the horn (strength) of the righteous. God is the strength of the righteous. He will be exalted among the nations. I understand the importance of prayer for that to be observed in our day. My Bible read through passages during this time include “And God was moved by prayer for the land.”
This morning, early, I had a very vivid dream. I was helping a handicapped friend prepare for her later-in-life wedding. This friend and I grew up together, went to school together, attended the same small country church and came to know Christ about the same time. She is my age, is married, with children and grandchildren. In my dream, she is in a wheelchair, but is able to walk a bit.
While helping her, we are often disrupted and the wedding is about to start. We were trying to get her microphone on when she wanted me to drive her to a school to pick up her son. It was almost time for the wedding. Everyone was waiting, but we left the wedding venue to find her son. We found the school, finally found her son, but he didn’t want to come. He said, “She is not my mother.” Maybe he is just a step son? The three of us are in my car trying now to get out of the crowded parking lot and I can hardly steer. The steering is very stiff, and there is something blocking the accelerator and brake pedals. I cannot get my foot on the peddles because of what is in the way. I look down and there is the heel of a huge white shoe blocking the pedals. It looks like a size 15 or so men’s tennis shoe. There is a police officer in the parking lot, but he has not yet come after me for my inability to stay out of the grassy areas. I wake up before I’m able to get out of the parking lot.
I normally don’t remember dreams. However this one is so vivid.
The bride is crippled. She needs to get her microphone on so she can be heard. I’m trying to manage it all and frustrated that I can’t. The bride’s “son” doesn’t want to go with her, but she desperately wants him with her for the wedding.
For weeks, I’ve been praying for God to do what is necessary for this nation to move forward in righteousness. Every morning I have been given specific scriptures to pray and I pray those throughout the day. When I woke up today I thought He was telling me that the prayer must be concentrated on that which is hindering the bride. He is ready for the wedding to take place.
I know when I get up I’m to read Daniel 9. It is Daniel’s prayer of repentance for himself and his people.
Gal 5:16-21 is up on my Logos from yesterday - the fruit of the spirit and the deeds of the flesh. The flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.
I will be praying the Daniel prayer and this Galatians passage today.
11/29 We have just come back from our weekend trip to Dexter for Thanksgiving.
My Bible reading today includes John 13:18
“I do not speak of all of you. I know the ones I have chosen; but it is that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’
I was not aware that was an idiom for betrayal. Psalm 41:9
Even my close friend in whom I trusted,
Who ate my bread,
Has lifted up his heel against me.n Foundation.
I looked at the Bible Knowledge Commentary on Psalm 41:9 -
41:4–10. His [David’s] prayer had been one for healing after confessing his sin (v. 4). However, he lamented the fact that his enemies took advantage of his condition. Wanting him to die (v. 5), they feigned friendship while slandering him (v. 6), saying that he would never survive (vv. 7–8). Even his trusted friend betrayed (lifted up his heel against) him (v. 9). These words, of course, were quoted by Jesus concerning Judas (John 13:18). But here David had in mind the treachery of his friend Ahithophel, who betrayed him, and then hanged himself (2 Sam. 16:20–17:3, 23).
I find this interesting also because the Ahithophel story was part of my OT reading today. I had been praying that God would make the counsel of Ahithophel foolishness (2 Sam. 15:21) - as David prayed “God make the counsel of the wicked in this country foolishness.
It looks like that has happened as those who are trying to increase votes for Biden have gone to far and the fraud has been clearly revealed.
Isaiah 41 today also. A prominent fear not in v. 10 - Thank you Lord, for this fear not which you continually bring to my mind. May your people gain new strength and speak up.
You have called for generations from the beginning. We are where we are for such a time as this.
You are the first and the last You will perform and accomplish all your desire. May those who are angered at your people and your leader be shamed and dishonored. Those who contend with us will be as nothing and perish....
