Prove

Prove in the Old Testament is “bahan” one of the meanings of this word is “to try or test by heat” Ps.17:3; Job 23:10; Ps.7:9; Mal.3:2 (refiner’s fire is designed to change things; metal is purified from dross). Refining is for the purpose of making something based upon the heart of the refiner. Isa.48:10; (There are five steps in the refining process: 1st Ore is broken into smaller pieces; because it is easier to purify broken pieces. 2nd, the broken pieces are placed in a crucible to burn out the lesser metal. 3rd, the heat would make the impurities melt and rise to the top. The refiner would skim off the impurities “dross” and the gold would sink to the bottom. The refiner would then turn the heat up more and melt other impurities until they floated tot he top and dross skimmed off. This process would continue about seven times. Once all the impurities are removed, the refiner continue to heat the gold until it begins to shine. He continue to heat the gold until he can see the reflection of himself. It is at that point that he knows it is pure gold. Only until he can see himself does he know it is pure gold. A father should prove a child until he sees himself. (Jesus was the light of the world. He works with us until we become the light of the world. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven. It was this shining that Jesus demonstrated on the mt. of transfiguration.

Provider

Providing is a parent’s second responsibility. The word provide originally ment to foresee. The idea of supplying something based upon foreseeing the future need. Parents are not to wait until a need arise but to have foresight of what will be needed and make preparation so that the supply is available when the need arrive. “I will supply …Gen.22:8, Gen.30:30, Gen.42:25, The story of Jacob is the story of a man who needed to provide for his family. Jacob started out trying to gain through ungodly means. He was trying to lie and cheat his way to prosperity. He was a grabber and a schemer who was going no where. He decided to try working but was making minimum wages. Jacob had a love for Rachel but nothing to offer her. He married two women and two comcobines with 13 children trying to liv off of minimum wages. He worked this job for 21 years and had nothing to show for it. He decided he needed to go into business for himself. Phil.4:19, Paul tells us that God will “supply” all of our needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. The greek word for supply means “to fill” . The context of the text is that Paul states in verse 18 that he “have all, and abound” I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. vs.19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Jesus Christ.
Protect
Ps.59:1, shield is the self-defence weapon. It goes in front of the person to protect them. God goes before His children. God’s glory went before Israel.
Presence—proximacy—It is nothing wrong with keeping your children near you.
Power—ability greater than enemy—Greater is He in us that he that is in the world
Pick-up—Remove from danger—Keep away from things that will hurt.—Put in a plave where you can’t be hurt. I go to prepare a place for you
