HOOK

DO NOT FORGET TO UNMUTE
It’s the 3rd day of December— Thursday!
Yesterday here at “The Message” we scrutinized the content of the letter from the Jerusalem council, to the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia— It was a short but rich in theology— Judas and Silas was sent by the Jerusalem church to go to Antioch along with Paul and Barnabas so that they may confirm the letter through their words— from this letter we learned...
WHATEVER I EAT, DRINK OR DO, I WILL EAT IT AND DO IT FOR GOD’S GLORY
I WILL NOT BE A REASON FOR ANYONE TO STUMBLE FROM THEIR FAITH
Today we will be able to complete chapter 15 of the book of Acts— Dr. Luke ended this chapter with the accounts of what happened when Paul had a disagreement with Barnabas— let’s see what happened— Open your Bible to ACTS 15:36-41
When studying the Bible, look for words that defines the CHARACTER of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit— keep an eye on COMMANDS to obey— good EXAMPLES to follow, and bad examples to avoid— PROMISES that you could claim— sins to CONFESS— CHALLENGES you encountered— and ENCOURAGEMENT to keep you going
READ ACTS 15:36-41

BOOK

Acts 15:36–41 NIV
36 Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us go back and visit the believers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing.” 37 Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them, 38 but Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work. 39 They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus, 40 but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the believers to the grace of the Lord. 41 He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.

LOOK

BARNABAS WANTED TO TAKE JOHN, ALSO CALLED MARK
Mark [John] is a cousin of Barnabas [COLOSSIANS 4:10]—
BUT PAUL DID NOT THINK IT WAS WISE TO TAKE HIM
Because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work— [ACTS 13:3]— it may be that John Mark left because he was uneasy going further into Gentile regions— and because of this…
THEY HAD SUCH A SHARP DISAGREEMENT THAT THEY PARTED COMPANY
Sometimes disagreements happens in the ministry— I believe it is not just common or natural to sometimes have some disagreements, but God also allowed these to happen in order to accomplish His purpose in us [ROMANS 8:28]
Barnabas took John Mark and sailed to Cyprus [Barnabas’ home area]— but Paul chose Silas and went through Syria and Cilicia [modern-day Turkey] strengthening the churches
It is important to note that— Later on in Paul’s letter to Timothy— there was a proof to show that his relationship with John Mark was restored— 2 TIMOTHY 4:11
From our devotional study today, we see that disagreements happens in the ministry— they are inevitable! God allows them to happen to carry out His purpose in us—

TOOK

SOMETIMES GOD ALLOWS DISAGREEMENTS TO HAPPEN IN THE MINISTRY
NO MATTER HOW SHARP THE DISAGREEMENTS ARE, IT SHALL ALL END WELL
