I. GOD CONFRONTS THE NATION WITH HER SIN.

A. The Nation is Commanded to Listen to the Lord’s Charges.
1. God speaks through His messenger to the nation.
B. He brings broad chargers. V. 1

there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

C. He brings specific chargers. V. 2

By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

They employ violence, so that bloodshed follows bloodshed.

II. GOD REVEALS THE CONSEQUENCES FOR THEIR SIN

A. There are Catastrophe Events.
1. These events effect the people.
2. These events effect the land and the sea.
Remember Adam and Eve’s sin caused the whole earth to fall. Israel’s sin causes all the earth to suffer. America’s sin can have an effect on the earth. You see, when God judges a nation, the land itself is involved and even the beasts and fowls suffer because of the sin of man.
God was trying to get Israels attention. I believe God is trying to get our attention. Israel did not listen and repent. Is the church and American listen today.
McGee, J. Vernon. Thru the Bible Commentary. electronic ed. Vol. 3. Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1997. Print.

III. CONCLUSION: The church and American needs to be awaken to sin. If we as a nation do not listen and follow the Scripture in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14, AV) Then, judgment will come. We are a nation in the valley of Achor (trouble) but there is a door of Hope. The door of hope is Jesus. Jesus declared, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” (John 10:9, AV)

I wanted to bring this message today as we begin to remember the birth of Jesus. God became flesh in the person of Jesus. Born of the Virgin Mary. The angel of the Lord appear to Joseph stating, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21, AV) Let us proclaim this message to this community during this season of hope and then all year. We are a nation in the valley of trouble but there is hope in Jesus and Jesus along.
