Even when the world is silent, over 2,000 years ago, God sends excellent news to shepherds as they watch their sheep out in the darkness of night. The angel declares the savior has come in a swaddling cloth lying in a manger. Witnessing the news for themselves, they glorify God and share the news with everyone. This season, we too have something to share, and that is Jesus Christ.

My friends and family theme song for the year 2020 is by
John Mayer - Waiting on the World to Change.
You might feel like me. You are ready for something new! Something worth sharing with others. Conversations are difficult when all you hear anymore is depressing news and drama.
Share social media post, articles, and videos.
We're looking for hope around the corner. Anything that can take our minds off unhealthy topics we commonly hear daily. We are waiting on the world to change.
Yet even if you don't see it. The Lord is doing mighty great works in our day just as he did in the past. God is not waiting on the world to change; he is making lasting change. Sometimes we need to see what God is doing before we can share anything meaningful with the rest of the world.
Back 2,000 years ago, everyone was living out their mundane lives, waiting on God to do something worth sharing with others. Then God sent an angel to Mary and told her she would conceive a child by the Holy Spirit's power. Nine months later, everything changes again.
1 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And all went to be registered, each to his own town. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. 6 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
8 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
15 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. 17 And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.
21 And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
What did God do?
He brought his Son into the world so he could save it. Not only did God do this great work for us but he even shared it with these shepherds. In the end they were the ones who got to see and share the new about the savior of the universe. Glorying and praising that God was working in there lives.
The same God who sent the Son of God to earth 2,000 years ago is still working today. He has given us something to say, and something to do. What does God want us to share with those around us this Christmas season?
The Lord is a promise keeper.
(Jeremiah 23:5-6 ESV)
5 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 6 In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’
People break their vow, words, and promises, but when God makes a promise, he keeps it forever—even sending us a savior from the line of David.
We can trust God because his words are worth solid gold - his words always carry weight.
(application: Trust the words in the scriptures to be true, fill your mind with God’s promises to his people.)
Praise Jesus for peace on earth.
(John 14:27 ESV)
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
In a distressful life, no matter what you're going through, Jesus wants you to have peace—feeling complete and whole even when living in the whirlwind of fear. "Peace is not the absence of chaos, but God is making you perfect and gives you everything you need so that you can rejoice."
Celebrate peace because we're full of it when we have Christ.
(Application: Worship Jesus and let your fear melt away. The closer you focus on God, the less you give to the world to steal your peace.)
Share God's miracle in a manger.
(Luke 2:11-12)
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”
We have something worth sharing - Jesus, the savior. He is worthy enough to leave everything and tell the world of how God entered our world to save us.
(Application: Share Christ by the reason you celebrate Christmas, not for the stuff under the tree, but for the man who came to world for me.)
For those who believe, we share the Christmas story because God is a promise keeper, a prince of peace and a miracle maker.
You have something worth sharing this week. See and share Christ wherever you go.
