Goals for Effective Disciple making
1. Receiving a revelation of the authority and power of God's Word and having a consistent, meaningful Quiet Time every day. (John 8:31-32)
Characteristics developed: Truthfulness; freedom in spirit and personality; freedom from sin, bondage, guilt; maturity; confidence and stability.
2. Experiencing the unconditional, agape love of the Father personally, then loving others in the same manner. (John 13:34-35; I John 4:19)
Characteristics developed: Agape love, commitment and trust.
3. Developing the fruit of the Spirit and leading people to Jesus. (John 15:8; Matthew 5:16)
Characteristics developed: Godly character and boldness to witness.
4. Falling in love with Jesus and being willing to leave everything to follow Him, like we would in marriage. (Luke 14:26; Genesis 2:24)
Characteristics developed: Ability to stand alone; freedom from compromise; loyalty to the standards of Jesus; selfless, deep love for and desire to please God.
5. Walking in the light, being accountable to others, vulnerable in order to deny our sin nature and grow strong in the Spirit. (Luke 14:27; 9:23)
6. Learning not to give up, not to lean on own understanding, and not to give into our feelings when it comes to our Christian walk and our commitment to fulfill Jesus' Great Commission. (Luke 14:28)
Characteristics developed: Steadfastness; loyalty; perseverance; trust and wisdom
7. Investing our treasure in heaven. Being yielded and prepared to obey should God give the word to sell all we own. Learning as disciples of Christ to hang onto worldly possessions very loosely. Embracing a simple lifestyle. (Luke 14:33)
Characteristics developed: Freedom from worldly possession; heavenly-mindedness and yielded ness to God.
