PEACE
12-06-2020
Welcome
Didn’t they do such a great job
Joy and the kids and Deidra, and Eric, and Lydia and the many musicians
Well done
What a joy it is to have our children share with us
Before we dive into this mornings sermon
Lets look at last week which was our Expectation of Hope
Hebrews 9:28 NASB95
28 so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.
How are HOPE is Jesus Himself
And we should be excited because our Hope Jesus is coming back and coming back soon
We should be getting ready
LIGHT THE CANDLE
This morning is the Preparation of Peace
As we eagerly await the 2nd Coming of Christ
There are somethings that we need to do before He comes and last week we eluded to last
Isaiah 40:3–5 NASB95
3 A voice is calling, “Clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness; Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God. 4 “Let every valley be lifted up, And every mountain and hill be made low; And let the rough ground become a plain, And the rugged terrain a broad valley; 5 Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, And all flesh will see it together; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
With this verse in light of last week and the coming Christ the coming HOPE
Remember last week we are to be so excited for the Coming Christ our Hoe is in Christ
The fact that Jesus is coming again should have us all sort of excited and what should we be doing because we are so excited you ask
We are to be clearing the way so that Christ can come
We are to be making smooth so that Christ can come
If we are so excited for the coming Christ then church we are to be sharing that with people
We are to be telling people to get ready
We are to be that voice that Isaiah talks about
John the Baptist did the same thing
John 1:22–23 NASB95
22 Then they said to him, “Who are you, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?” 23 He said, “I am a voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”
When asked what he was doing he has the perfect answer
John’s answer was that the savior was coming
The savior would bring HOPE and we talked about that last week
But the Savior will also bring about Peace to our lives
I am sure that you have seen the posts on facebook
The voice of God vs the voice of satan
You have seen those right
When you look through those one thing runs true
God is the God of peace
Paul tells us that when we go to Jesus in prayer and with a thankful heart we have Peace
Philippians 4:6–7 NASB95
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
When we seek the Lord in Prayer and have a thankful heart church we will have Peace
Not just the run of the mill peace you can find anywhere
But the Peace of God Himself
The Peace of God that no one can understand
The Peace of God that this world cannot understand
Church that is a peace that right now if you have it you are the different one in the group
It is peace that is so comforting and allows you to truly rest in Jesus
Jesus Himself is PEACE
Isaiah 9:6 NASB95
6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
If Jesus who is the Son of God will be called the Prince of Peace that would make sense that His father would be the King of Peace
God is the God of peace and comfort
You and I can have peace right now in an un peaceful situation
A personal relationship with God gives us peace
Remember last week we talked about how we can trust God to fulfill
That is where I peace comes from
Proverbs 3:5 NASB95
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.
LIGHT CANDLE
Peace comes through trust in Jesus and not of ourselves
Not sure if you have caught on from last week but if we put our hope and if we put our trust in ourselves or what we can do then we will only ever get what you and I can do and get
It if when we stop trusting ourselves and start trusting in Jesus that we have peace in this life
See church in the Book of Isaiah it says it and in the book of John it says it again
That we are to be voices calling out that people are to get ready for the coming Christ
Then we are to also share with them that there is peace at the cross
It is not a bunch of rules of what you can and can’t do at the cross but there is freedom and peace at the cross of Christ
Jesus Himself
John 16:33 NASB95
33 “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
He gives us instruction and how to handle things through prayer specifically
Then Jesus says the reason I have told you all that is so that you would have peace when it comes
We have the Word of God so that we would have PEACE
Jesus Himself is the PEACE we need and we crave
Jesus Himself says we will encounter tribulation during this world
But remember that He has given us His word so that we can have peace when we do encounter those tribulations
Church it is only through a personal relationship with Christ that we will have true peace
You only come to a personal relationship with Christ when you repent from your sin
TO turn from the sin in your life physically stopping the sin and turning from it and turning to Jesus
Then it is to trust in Jesus
To trust that Jesus is who He says He is which is the son of God our savior
To trust that He has good in store for us His children
To Trust that He will guide and direct us to good
To Trust that God is good
To Trust that He will come back and take His Children Home
That is when you have peace
CLOSING
So this morning as the band comes up
If you are here today and you do not have peace
I would like to invite you to the front to speak with someone about beginning a relationship with Christ this morning
YOu could have shown up with no peace and leave this place with peace this morning
Or maybe you have a personal relationship with Jesus and you have taken your gaze off Jesus and are sinking in life right now
This morning is a call to refocus on Jesus and regain peace in life
The altar is open
