Genesis 2:18 NKJV
18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”

1. We are called to be a part of Community.

Hebrews 10:25 NKJV
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Acts 20:7 NKJV
7 Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight.
in these two verses we see that we are called to come together as a people.
we are not intended to be alone.

2. Friendship moves us forward.

Hebrews 10:24 NKJV
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
we consider one another.
we stir one another up to love.
we stir one another to good works.
the world likes to do a version of this; its not love and Good works.

what are some things the world stirs us up toward?

racism.
sexism.
economic inequality.
age discrimination.
political schism.
away from faith and toward humanism.

2. Friendships can be redemptive

Philippians 1:6 NKJV
6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
James 1:2–4 NKJV
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
James 5:16 NKJV
16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
1 Peter 4:8 NKJV
8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”
relationships are important. friends that love beyond faults is one of the ways we are like christ.
this is not co-signing, this is grace. yes my brother you are wrong but if you are willing we can make this right. the purposes of God are still valid. I still love you.
