Escape From Hell
Escape From Hell
Recently my wife and I watched a movie called “Escape From Hell”. The movie depicted a doctor trying to prove or disprove there was a Heaven or hell by being put to death and then brought back. In the movie a pastor asked a patient this question, “What would you say to God if He asks you why He should let you into Heaven”? The man said, “I would tell Him that I am a good person, I work every day, I haven’t cheated on my wife, I pay my bills, and I help others”. The man gave a long list of the things he did and how good of a person he was. The pastor told the man that none of those things were going to make God let him into Heaven. It wasn’t about what the man had or hadn’t done, it was about the grace and mercy God shows us through his risen Son, Jesus Christ. He told the man he must repent of his sins and ask God for forgiveness and accept Jesus as his personal savior, believing that Christ died on the cross for him. However the man was convinced that because of what he had done he would go to Heaven. In the movie it shows the same man, after suffering a heart attack and dying, being in hell.
I thought to myself, I used to be just like that man, believing that if I did enough good things, was a good person, helped others, gave to the church and followed and believed what the teachings of the church were I was assured a place in Heaven. However I was lost because I couldn’t or wouldn’t live up to what the church expected of me. I grew to hate church, not because of what was expected of me but the way the church manipulated people. I can not remember when I first started receiving The Plain Truth magazine but it started me on a different path, a path away from the legalistic ideas the church had. This was a magazine that talked and preached exclusively about God’s grace and mercy. I started doing research on Plain Truth Ministries and found a section called “Ask Greg”. I can’t tell you the number of questions and answers I read. The entire ministry was based on God’s grace and they would say over and over that it was grace and not works that saved a person and we could never do enough or be good enough to enter Heaven. This was a whole new concept to me. The more I read about Plain Truth Ministries, I felt that this was a church that was telling the truth. This whole new idea I had about grace compelled me to write articles for the church I was attending at the time, to give them a new perspective and new ideas. I purchased a copy of Bad News Religion by Greg Albrecht and after reading it I knew without any doubt the way to salvation. I no longer had to hold onto the ideals of the church but could embrace a new fresh idea of salvation, grace and mercy. Plain Truth Ministries completely changed my way of thinking and my beliefs on salvation, church, and so much more. In addition to the Plain Truth Magazine I now receive the Weekly Update and I listen to the CWR sermons every Sunday morning now. I have walked away from the old legalistic ways of the church and have now made my church Plain Truth Ministries/CWR. As is their motto says: faith alone, grace alone and Christ alone is the only way to complete salvation which I now know it not to be the plain truth but the complete truth. Due to the beliefs and preaching’s of Plain Truth Ministries and CWR and their influence on me with my walk in Christ a person could really say I was able to “Escape From Hell”!
