My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
Lex Talionis - “This for that”. In v.6 because of the verb being repeated - you rejected - I reject you; we get the sense of a lex talionis - eye for an eye!
God’s Law is the cohesion that holds God’s family together. Since the Priests had rejected God and His law God in turn would forget the Priests children or family linage. This represents a generational curse pronouncement.
