Matthew 9:35-38
Labor day is an official public holiday
Celebrated the first Monday in September
Honors the American Labor Movement
Workers who contributed to: Strength, Prosperity, Laws, Well-being of this country
A day when laborer do not labor
Strange its called Labor day
But as Christians:
We are called to be involved in the work of God’s glory and His Kingdom
We must never cease to labor for God
He never stop’s working for us
Why should we rest from working for Him
When we lay down, or rest, it robs God of His glory
There are so many in the world that are lost
It says in these verses that Jesus went through all the towns and villages preaching the good news
We should also have that desire to lead the lost to our Lord
Jesus saw the harvest of spiritually lost people facing an eternity in hell
The lost matters to God
If we are to be Christ-like then the lost should matter to us
We need to have the same compassion Jesus had
The people Jesus saw had been defeated by life
Had been harassed
They were helpless
Like sheep without a Shepherd
They were at their lowest because of the toils and struggles of this world
They had no hope
This is the same as the world today have no Eternal hope
People will let this world lead them into all kinds of directions
These are illusions
Fads
False prophets
Misguided religions
These people need to be reached if they are to have any hope of eternal life in heaven
There are so few of us to do that work
John 4:35
As Jesus was called to finish the work of the Father
So are we called to finish His work
It says, “Look to the fields, for they are white already to harvest”
When you have a crop that is ready to harvest, if you wait too long the crop will begin to die…Begin to Rot
He is telling us here that there is truly no time to waste lest it be too late to reach this lost and dying world
We don’t have time to sit around celebrating
Our celebration will be in Paradise
Jesus saves, but we are called to bring in the harvest
We can’t harvest if we don’t go into the harvest or field
What can we do?
1. We can take responsibility of our field
Look at all the people we run into each day we could be witnessing to
2. We can go
Gospel Begins With Go
Go into the harvest
Witness to them
If we don’t go, who will?
3. We can pray
Pray for the harvest
For the salvation of the lost
4. We can share our testimony
One person at a time
Even though the harvest is vast
It only takes one at a time
I ask, “can we do more when it comes to bringing in the harvest of souls?”
Or, do we consider our work for Him like that of a Labor day celebration?
Taking a break, a rest, from the labor
Are we too distracted with things of this world?
Matthew 5:16 “This is our Commission”
