Read: Psalm 89:15-18

Charles Spurgeon calls Psalm 89, “The Majestic Covenant Psalm”
Psalm 89:15–18 KJV 1900
15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: They shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance. 16 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: And in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. 17 For thou art the glory of their strength: And in thy favour our horn shall be exalted. 18 For the Lord is our defence; And the Holy One of Israel is our king.

Psalm 89 ...has three distinct sections:
a hymn celebrating Yahweh’s right to cosmic kingship (vv. 1–18);
a prophetic oracle outlining the Davidic covenant (vv. 19–37);
and a lament over the king’s battle defeat (vv. 38–51).
The last verse is a doxology for Book III of the Psalter

Our passage Psalm 89:15-18 talks about some people who are blessed - happy and favored.
In reality all of us here tonight fit into that category. the Psalmist is referring to the People of God -
He lists seven reasons why they are a blessed people:

1. They are blessed because they know the joyful sound. Psalm 89:15 a

This “Joyful Sound” could be referring to the Trumpet of Jubilee
It can also be referring to the sounds of praise.

2. They Walk in the light (countenance) Psalm 89:15 b

3. They Rejoice “In God’s Name all the day” Psalm 89:16 a

4. They are Exalted in God’s Righteousness Psalm 89:16b

5. Their Strength is in “Thou Art” Psalm 89:17

6. They Live Life in God’s Favor Psalm 89:17 b

7. Their Security is in the Lord

18 For the Lord is our defence; And the Holy One of Israel is our king.
