Text Big Idea: The Messiah glorifies Yahweh by restoring and preparing His people for the ministry of restoration.

The messiah was sent on a mission of restoration (Isaiah 61:1-3a).

2 to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn,

3 to preserve those who mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness…

Yahweh is glorified by the restoration of His people (Isaiah 61:3b).

Restoration

Jesus’ goal is to prepare you for ministry now and in eternity (cf. Ephesians 2:7).

God shows His love for me in sending His Son to heal and deliver me from sin. God’s love is seen in His complete provision for complete restoration from the ruin of sin. More than that, despite my former ingratitude and helplessness, Yahweh proposes to use me in His ministry. His salvation equips
