My tongue will speak of your righteousness and of your praises all day long.—Proverbs 25:28 (NIV)

172 May my tongue sing of your word, for all your commands are righteous. 173 May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts.—Psalm 119:172-173 (NIV)

COPS was once a favorite reality television show of mine. On one show, an officer stopped a guy on a routine traffic stop. After speaking to the man, he smelled alcohol on his breath. The officer suspected that the man was under the influence simply because of the smell that was coming out of his mouth. The officer asked the man if he would be willing to take a Breathalyzer test. The officer explained that he would blow into a tube and a computer would provide a reading using the man’s breath to determine the amount of alcohol in the man’s system. In short, the Breathalyzer test simply reads what comes out of the mouth to determine what’s on the inside.

People should be able to determine that we are under the influence of God by what comes out of our mouths. People should be able to determine who lives on the inside by what comes out of our mouths. Even in the midst of an economic crisis, we should still breathe the promises that God will take care of His own. Despite the negativity spoken and done on the job, we should still breathe and do positive things. That which we say should be reflective of the God that lives on the inside of us. What if God were to give us a Breathalyzer test to read His level of influence by what comes out of our mouths? What would the reading be?

Be blessed!
