Greetings…
In Galatians 2:20 we have one of the more well-known passages concerning God’s Word.
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Within this passage we find what it means to “Live The Crucified Life.”
Let’s look again at how this passage starts.
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
This reminds us it’s…
Personal
Personal
“I’ve” Been Crucified.
“I’ve” Been Crucified.
This passage reminds us of the individual responsibility we agreed to.
It’s not mom or dad that crucified our old man of sin.
It’s not sister or brother that crucified our old man of sin.
It’s not our best friend or any other person that crucified our old man of sin it was “I.”
Again “I have been crucified” reminds us that we counted the cost before accepting the individual responsibility of being crucified; it wasn’t anyone else but ourselves.
25 Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them, 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. 27 Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.
28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29 Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’
31 Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. 33 So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.

When the days seem long and the nights even longer, we can begin to question what we are doing and why we are doing it.
However, Paul, who understood the long days and nights better than anyone, reminds us of the just how personal our commitment to “Live The Crucified Life” was when we obeyed the gospel.
We chose, after counting the cost, to crucify our old sinful selves and live the crucified life.
Looking again at our passage we find…
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
This is not only personal it is also a…
Partnership
Partnership
“With” Christ.
“With” Christ.
When we committed to obeying the gospel (Romans 6:3-5) and having our sins washed away by the blood of Christ (Acts 22:16; Ephesians 2:13) we did so knowing this would create a partnership between us and Christ.
This passage reminds us of the partnership or fellowship we have with Christ.
Christ is our High Priest.
15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Christ is our Mediator.
5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
Christ is our Master.
2 To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:
Christ is our Great Shepherd.
20 Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,

“I have been crucified with Christ” reminds us of the partnership and fellowship we have been ourselves and our Savior.
It also reminds us that this partnership will never fade by God’s hand.
5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Looking again at Galatians 2:20 we read…
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
This not only teaches us that “Living The Crucified Life” is personal and a partnership but that is ought to be a…
Priority
Priority
I “Know Longer Live”
I “Know Longer Live”
The phrase “first place” has come under fire over the last several years as people strive to remove any sort of distinction between people.
Men are told to act like women and women like men.
Harry Styles is on the cover of magazines in a dress.
Sarah Fuller is kicking for the Vanderbilt men’s football team.
Kids are not allowed to “keep score” in games because “everyone is a winner.”
However, Paul reminds us in our passage that “Living The Crucified Life” means putting God first above everyone and everything.
This means putting God as top priority in our love.
27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
This means putting God as top priority in our family.
37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
This means putting God as top priority over our life.
10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Summary
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no long I who live but Christ who lives in me” reminds us of where our priority ought to be and God is to be the top priority of our lives.
He is to be in “first place” in our lives.
Let’s look again at our text.
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Living the Crucified Life according to God in Galatians 2:20 not only teaches us that we have a personal responsibility, an active partnership, and profound priority but that there is a specific…
Purpose
Purpose
“Live” By Faith.
“Live” By Faith.
Faith is the outgrowth of belief in God.
Belief alone cannot save anyone as James clearly points out.
19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
When one believes in “the God” of all creation (John 3:16), then studies about his Creator in God’s holy word (Romans 10:17) this produces a trust in God called faith (Hebrews 11:1) which eventually, if pursued, leads to faithfulness (Hebrews 11:6).
So, to live by faith means to believe that God exists, trust in God, and pursue God’s desires for us.
In other words, a Christian’s purpose is to do the will of God.
35 For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.”
17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who lives but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by the faith in the Son of God...”
Paul, inspired by God reminds us how personal our responsibility is, how great a partnership we have with Christ, who is to top our priorities, and the purpose for which we live here on earth.
Galatians 2:20 concludes with…
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
In other words it reminds us we were…
Purchased
Purchased
“Gave Himself” For Me.
“Gave Himself” For Me.
Paul reminds us in Galatians 2:20, concerning living the crucified life, of the great sacrifice Christ made to purchase us or redeem us back from the grasp of sin.
He gave up heaven to be born of the flesh.
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
He was tempted by sin.
15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
He became the “sin sacrifice.”
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
He was sacrificed.
12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,
All this was done to “purchase” us back from this old sinful world.
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Summary
Our motivation should never waiver if we are continually reminded of the sacrifice our savior when through to purchase our souls back from the depths and darkness of sin.

READ Galatians 2:20:
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
God reminds us in this text…
That this is “Personal.”
That his is a “Partnership.”
Who should be our top “Priority.”
What our “Purpose” is.
That the sacrifice Christ made was used to “Purchase” us back from sin.
As you reflect on your life “does this describe your life?”
Are you “Living The Crucified Life?”
Invitation
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; 2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,
32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.
8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,
3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
