I work in Labor and Delivery and I have noticed that there are not many boys named Lance. In Mid-evil times boys were named Lance-a-lot.

Introduction

Throughout 2020 we have been reading through the Old Testament. We are currently in Ezekiel. But this week I wanted to take a break from our regular pattern and go back and take a look at a passage from Isaiah that speaks directly to Advent.
It is a prophetic verse that speaks of the birth of Jesus.
As we have read the Old Testament we have been searching to Find Jesus. This passage not only speaks about him, but it tells us of him by name.
Philippians 2:9–11 KJV 1900
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
In our text today we learn the Fourfold Name Of Jesus.

Body

Jesus is the Wonderful Counselor

Wonderful = peleh and means a miracle or marvelous thing.
Counselor = yaats and means to advise, consult, or guide.
1 Peter 5:7 KJV 1900
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Jesus is the Mighty God

Mighty - Gibbor
God - El
Literally the Mighty Almighty or the conquering God
Romans 8:37–39 KJV 1900
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jesus is the The Everlasting Father

How is Jesus like a Father to us
He gives Life
John 1:3 KJV 1900
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
He Loves us
John 15:9 KJV 1900
As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
He protects us
John 17:11–12 KJV 1900
And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace

Isaiah 32:17–18 KJV 1900
And the work of righteousness shall be peace; And the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, And in sure dwellings, And in quiet resting places;
Isaiah 53:5 KJV 1900
But he was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon him; And with his stripes we are healed.
Romans 5:1 KJV 1900
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
