Recruiting The Team
Recruiting The Team
11 Now the Angel of the Lord came and sat under the oak (terebinth) at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, and his son Gideon was beating wheat in the winepress to hide it from the Midianites.
12 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, The Lord is with you, you mighty man of [fearless] courage.
13 And Gideon said to him, O sir, if the Lord is with us, why is all this befallen us? And where are all His wondrous works of which our fathers told us, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? But now the Lord has forsaken us and given us into the hand of Midian.
14 The Lord turned to him and said, Go in this your might, and you shall save Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?
10 Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, The Lord has not chosen any of these.
11 Then [he] said to Jesse, Are all your sons here? [Jesse] said, There is yet the youngest; he is tending the sheep. Samuel said to Jesse, Send for him; for we will not sit down to eat until he is here.
12 Jesse sent and brought him. David had a healthy reddish complexion and beautiful eyes, and was fine-looking. The Lord said [to Samuel], Arise, anoint him; this is he.
13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
18 As He was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He noticed two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, throwing a dragnet into the sea, for they were fishermen.
19 And He said to them, Come after Me [as disciples—letting Me be your Guide], follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men!
20 At once they left their nets and became His disciples [sided with His party and followed Him].
21 And going on further from there He noticed two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets and putting them right; and He called them.
22 At once they left the boat and their father and joined Jesus as disciples [sided with His party and followed Him].

Insecurities Must Be addressed Before considering leading a team
The Team Leader should be able to verbally share what areas they are strong & weak in.
Team Recruitment
#1 Assessment
Write down a list of what your team needs
Let’s Use Greeter & Ushers as our Example:
1. We already know we need an administrator: This the person thats communicating to the team, to the congregation Etc.
They keep us on point with calendar events
Scheduling: who’s covering what Sunday and weekly advents etc.
They might be the virtual assistant on Sunday Morning that welcomes first, second & third time viewers
2. We need at least 8 staff members 2 for each Sunday of the month.
3. We need well groomed, well disciplined, well spoken staff members
Groomed: clean clothes, clean hands, clean breath aka (appearance)
Disciplined: Arrives on time, follows direction, adheres to Covid-19 policies and practice
Spoken: great communicator, peoples person.
Team Recruit #2
Identify Candidates (#2. Scouting)
When God Chooses Someone to do something great his or her employment is similar or connected to what he needs them to do in the kingdom
Example:
Apostle Paul was a tent maker: God called him to help build, establish & cover the gentile Church.
We find this with Gideon, When the Lord called Gideon, he didn’t see himself as a mighty man, as a matter of fact he didn’t have much confidence in God helping his people.
Amplified Bible Chapter 6
13 And Gideon said to him, O sir, if the Lord is with us, why is all this befallen us? And where are all His wondrous works of which our fathers told us, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? But now the Lord has forsaken us and given us into the hand of Midian.
See God had caught him being slick!!
The Midianites had a strong hold over Isreal and they took everything they had and left them with little
And Gideon with his slick self
Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites (Jdg 6:11).
If this dude is willing take risks like this then could you imagine what he could do on Gods team?
What about David?
He’s the 8th son, unloved, unappreciated, under-valued. Yet he wasn’t a complainer her was a worshiper.
And Just like that the Prophet comes to Davids fathers house and chooses him over his 7 brothers
The New King James Version Chapter 16
And the LORD said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!” 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers;
David got sheep doo-doo on his sandal’s he smells like he’s been in the field all day. It didn’t matter. He was anointed in the midst of his brothers.
He goes from Leading Sheep to Leading People...
No Wonder David wrote
A Psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
But what about Pete, Jimmy & Johnny
The New King James Version Chapter 4
19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
You’ve mastered catching fish now you’ll master catching men..
