All the stories have an Antagonist and a Hero.
As it represents what Humans desperately desire. We like the hero with power, escaping death a touching love story.
The Book of Mathew communicates to us what the Christmas Story is and what the Christmas story is not!!
Matthew 1:1 CSB
An account of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:
Matthew 1:3 CSB
Judah fathered Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez fathered Hezron, Hezron fathered Aram,
Matthew 1:5 CSB
Salmon fathered Boaz by Rahab, Boaz fathered Obed by Ruth, Obed fathered Jesse,
Matthew 1:6 CSB
and Jesse fathered King David. David fathered Solomon by Uriah’s wife,
Matthew 1:16 CSB
and Jacob fathered Joseph the husband of Mary, who gave birth to Jesus who is called the Messiah.
Matthew 1:17 CSB
So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations; and from David until the exile to Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the exile to Babylon until the Messiah, fourteen generations.

Background:

What Matthew Does Not Say: No Fairytale!

Matthew 1:1 CSB
An account of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:
Christmas is not just the announcing of a Birth but it's about a Coming!
Matthew is not giving us “Once Upon a Time”
Matthew is giving to us what Jesus did in History.
Jesus is Real not a Fairy tale.
Matthew is not giving you advice but making an announcement
Advice is something you have to do
News is a report about what already happened.
Advice urges you to make something happen
News urges you to recognize something happened and to respond to it.
Advice says it is all up to you to act.
News says someone else has acted.
The Angels did not say “We have something for you to do. They said “We bring you great tidings of good joy.”
Matthew is telling us what actually happened! What God has done.
God has come to save you.
This is just the beginning of the story
But you have to believe the report of what happened in history.
Olivia’s question about is the Bible stories real?
Christmas shows us that Christianity is not advice but GOOD NEWS!

What Matthew Does Say: Human, Messiah, Real. (3,5)

The Genealogy that is also a resume
On a resume you always put your best foot forward.
Matthew Communicates Tamar, Judah, Rahab, and, and 5 women in total.
A resume is to impress but Matthew did the opposite.
Matthew shows that criminals, immoral, gentiles can be a part of the family of God.
Our Human genealogy makes us the same but it is our belief in Jesus that brings us into the family of God.

God Keeps His Promise (6,16, and 17)

God has been working throughout the generations to fulfill his promise.
Jesus provided what the people were longing for.
They wanted deliverance from enemies
Jesus was the rest they were looking for.
