15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

The picture being verbally drawn before us here in the scriptures is one of hope, comfort, and encouragement.
The writer starts out this section of the passage by telling us:
We have a need meeter - 4:14-16
A Great High Priest
Passed into the heavens
Verse 15 speaks to this - "which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities
But was in all points tempted like as we are - YET WITHOUT SIN!!!
Not only has he entered into heaven - but He entered into our lives
I recall my younger daughter’s [Dwight Pentecost] prayer when she had chicken pox at the age of seven. We were praying together before she was put to bed. She said, “Thank You for coming from Your beautiful home in heaven to earth. And thank You for having measles and chicken pox so You know how much I want to scratch.” In her own childlike way, she was confident she had an understanding High Priest.

The identity - Jesus the Son of God
Because of this HOLD FAST - don't let go of your profession.
We are exhorted to come boldly to the throne of this Great High Priest
To obtain mercy
To find grace
To help IN TIME OF NEED
Psalm 46:1 - God is our refuge and strenght, a very present help in trouble
Psalm 27:5 For in the TIME OF TROUBLE he shall hide me in his pavilion: …
All of us have these times - Needs can be so many things
Sometimes I'm afraid we look at this like an emergency fund - "If it gets bad enough I'll draw from it." But that is not what the writer of Hebrews is telling us - the tense here is "Come boldly and as often as you need" Come every day - THERE IS AN ENDLESS SUPPLY
John the Revelator quoted Jesus in Rev. 22:17
Revelation 22:17 (KJV)
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
What am I trying to say this morning?The One on the throne has more than enough capacity to help usHe holds both the authority and capability to help in our need
James Rowe wrote several years ago:
When I am burdened or weary and sad,
Jesus is all I need;
Never He fails to uplift and make glad
Jesus is all I need
All that I need He will always be,
All that I need till His face I see;
All that I need thru eternity,
Jesus is all I need.
