The Two Miriams: Watching for God
Note: Due to an internet connection problem, the first few minutes of this sermon were not able to be recorded. The sermon actually began in Luke 1:26-28 where Luke records the announcement of Gabriel to Mary that she will conceive the Christ child. When Luke records this episode, he transposes Mary's Hebrew name into Greek which would have been Miriam. We understand that she would have been named after the first Miriam in the Bible found in Exodus and that the character of the first Miriam would have been the wish of Mary's parents for her. So, are there connections between the two Miriams? There most certainly are. In fact, there are many connections. In this sermon, it is worth taking a look at those connections during the December timeframe to see how the first Miriam foreshadowed the second Miriam and the first Moses foreshadowed the Greater Moses. The sermon video then starts with Exodus 2:1 with our deeper look at the first Miriam of the two Miriams of the Bible.
