Dealing with Conflict

What is conflict? –

• War; difference; mental struggle;

Why do we have conflict? –

• Because there is a Devil, who is an adversary
• Because we live in a fallen world
• Because we have not learned how to deal with our differences

Mathew 18:15-20 

1.         Nobody WANTS conflict

2.         We can WORK THROUGH conflict

            Mathew 18:15-20

·        Negotiation - to bring about by mutual agreement

Go and tell your brother (vs.15)

·        Mediation – to intervene by working with both sides

Take two or more (vs.16)

·        Arbitration – refer to a third party to resolve conflict

Tell it to the Church (vs.17)

·        Excommunicate – to exclude from the fellowship

If he refuses to hear you, treat him as a heathen (vs.17)

3.         Don’t WASTE your conflict

·        Grow from you conflict

·        Become a reconciler – turn two opposing parties face to face
