The third Sunday of Advent is known as Gaudete Sunday, coming from the Latin for "rejoice" when penitents are encouraged to take a break and rejoice. Traditionally, this Sunday focuses on Jesus' second advent, or second coming, when we are reminded to rejoice not just because Jesus has come, but also because He is coming again.
