Reliability of the Bible?

1.       Archaeology gives us some of the strongest support that the Bible is reliable.

          -By excavating ancient civilizations, archaeologists have discovered more than 25,000 different sites that are related to Old Testament events.

2.       Evidence for Joseph

          -Genesis 37:28 tells us that Joseph was sold into slavery for 20 pieces of silver.  Archaeologists have discovered that 20 pieces of silver was an average price for a slave during Joseph’s day.

          -Joshua 24:32 tells how Joseph’s bones were moved from Egypt to Shechem.  In Shechem they found a mummified body buried with an Egyptian sword that they believe is Joseph.

                   -Archaeologists have also found evidence of other non-Egyptians being appointed to high positions in Egypt

3.       Other Evidence from the Old Testament

          -Jericho

          -They found a city with widespread fire damage and fallen walls.

-Solomon

          -Found one of his stables.
