Christmas is such a wonderful time of year. Yes, even in a year such as 2020.
The month and season of the birth of Jesus Christ is not as important as His birth itself.
We find the history of His birth, life, death, and resurrection in the Gospels.
Gospel means “Good News!” The good news is that God sent His Son to be the savior of the world.
The first time He came, He came as the lamb of God to be the sacrifice for sin.
He came humbly and meek; a willing, suffering servant.
However, He’s coming back, soon, as a conquering king! Reclaiming all things back to God.
In the Old Testament...

The King is Coming!

Isaiah 7:14
Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.
In the New Testament...

The King Has Come!

Matthew records the wise men who came to Jerusalem seeking and asking,
Matthew 2:1-2
Matthew 2:1–2 NASB95
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”
Luke records the angelic announcement of His birth to the shepherds against the backdrop of a night sky filled with the praises of God being sung by a heavenly host of angels.
The angel said to them,
Luke 2:10-14
Luke 2:10–14 NASB95
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. “This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”
John records in his gospel the kings promise

The King is Coming Again

John 14:1–3
John 14:1–3 NASB95
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
To us, it seems, many years have passed, nearly 2000 years. Yet, to God, it has been only a moment.
The Bible bears out that a thousand years is but a day to God, meaning, that He is not restrained by time as we are.
Concerning our life, James writes “You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away,” James 4:14.
Jesus appeared to John on the isle of Patmos where He introduced Himself by saying,
Revelation 1:8
Revelation 1:8 NASB95
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
After the trumpets of God had sounded, John heard loud voices in Heaven saying,
Revelation 11:15
Revelation 11:15 NASB95
Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.”
And as to the return of our Savior, Jesus Christ, John recorded what Christ revealed to Him.
Revelation 19:11–16
Revelation 19:11–16 NASB95
And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Only the true Christian possesses the true Spirit of Christmas, for the life which was born in Bethlehem, has been born in us.
And the Spirit who lives within us now, is the guarantee of our inheritance in His eternal kingdom when He returns.
