Heavy situations (good or bad)...moments of great significance (beauty, majesty, watershed)...maybe even meeting people of great significance.
We’ve all lived through these and have experienced some sense of awe and wonder, weightiness…
In Revelation 5 we see a scene of great significance and all of the elders, angels and all of creation praised God...
Revelation 5:11-14 (stand & read)
11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12 In a loud voice they were saying:
“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”
13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”
14 The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.
Revelation 5:12 Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”
HONOR & GLORY
Honor = τιμή (timē), honor, respect, status, value, worth
the state of being highly respected or revered.
Glory = δόξα (Doxa) honor which is accorded to, or the splendor which characterizes, a person or thing.
Hebrew
Kābhēdh to be “to be heavy,” “weighty”
Kavod = weighty
often referring to the transcendent nature reflective especially of God’s nature.
Moses seeing the Glory of God in Exodus 33…
His glory is HIS GOODNESS…
Hidden in the cleft of the rock so that He could be in the presence of the Glory of God...that Rock was Christ!
kabod...temple being dedicated and kabod falling so that priests couldn’t stand.
2 Chronicles 5:14 the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the temple of God.
At the birth of Jesus angels declaring:
Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest!
1 Timothy 6:13-16 God dwells in unapproachable light and no one can see him and live...YET
John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus IS the Glory of God
1 Timothy 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
“God” is the one who receives and deserves all honor and all might…But here it is the lamb…
AND He Received Glory FROM God
2 Peter 1:17–19
He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
One thing we know for sure, the Honor & the Glory are NOT for us!
Psalm 115:1 Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.
Revelation 7:12 Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!”
The only one missing is wealth and substituted for THANKS - root Eucharisto - same word for the act of worship and thanksgiving that the believers practiced daily/weekly in their gatherings!
Set at the center of the structure which mirrors the previous doxology.

Our Response:
This scene is not frozen in time…
We were created to give Glory and Honor, Thanks, and Praise to God…
With our entire lives...and in eternity the one who is worthy will continue to receive the glory and the honor because HE deserves it…
But maybe not as you’ve imagined:
In our lives now we are told to give him honor and glory in everything we do:
1 Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Col 3:14–17 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
