Luke 2:1-16
Luke 2:1-16
2:1-7
Jesus who is King of kings, Lord or lords. Who is God Himself come in human flesh.
He was not born into royalty.
He was not born into a rich family.
He was born in one of the smallest town and in a manger (explain a manger)
Why would Jesus not be born into royalty?
Because then He would not be easily accessible to common people let alone the poor.
Only a select few would be able to relate to Jesus.
2:8-14 Who are the first people that are told about Jesus’ birth. It is shepherds.
Shepherds were among the lower class and were represented as poor.
These Shepherds are the first people that God tells the good news of Jesus’ birth to.
This good new was/is for all people. John 3:16
If Jesus had been born to royalty not everyone would have been able to come to him.
Mark 1:40-42
Mark 10:46-52
Jesus who is Lord of lords, King of kings, God in human flesh came in a way were people could easily come to Him, because He wants people to come to Him.
But Jesus also come to be a savior of all people.
But what is Jesus a Savior of? And why is this such good news of great joy?
Jesus is the Savior from our sins that lead to death Romans 6:23. And I am not talking about we die and that it we are no more. There is an eternal death in hell where there is torment for eternity.
But by Jesus being born God in human flesh, living a perfect life we can not live. He paid the debt of sin which is death, a debt we can not pay.
That is how He is the Savior of all people. By His death on the cross and resurrecting the third day.
That is why the angels say I bring you good news of great joy. Because if we you put your faith and trust in Jesus you will be saved.
God is telling and encouraging these “lower class” shepherds to go see Jesus, to meet their Savior as he entered this world.
I want to make this abundantly clear, God does not see lower class, middle class, or upper class.
With God there is no lower class, middle class, or upper class. God sees people He created in His image and loves them. So much so He sent His son Jesus into the world to die for all people.
2:15-16 Closing
The shepherds answered the call of God to meet their Savior, to go see Him, to approach Him. They did not wait they went with haste.
Jesus is still approachable today, God still wants people to know Him and put their faith and trust in Him. This is why Jesus came into the world.
No matter your ethnicity, your economical class. As the angel said at the end of verse 10 that will be for all people.
God is calling you to come to Jesus, to put your faith and trust in Him. Will you answer that call and come to the Savior?
