SETTING OUR GOALS BY "FAITH"

Jeremiah 29:11-13 “ For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” 12 In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. READ verse 11 again..... AGAIN..... 11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” I would say this is a pretty good place to start 2021 wouldn’t you all?

When we feel or believe God has sent us a plan or that He is guiding us isn’t is funny how immediately we begin the process of “How can WE achieve God’s plan?-or- I need to get busy doing this right away? Do you all see the issue with this? WE CAN’T ACHIEVE GOD’S PLAN! IT’S GOD’S PLAN........He can achieve His plan through us.

Proverbs 16:9 tells us: “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

Now, shouldn’t that be so reassuring? So calming? So.....easy? So why isn’t it then that we want to constantly do it “our way?” one reason is that if we believe it is our plan, our effort, our result, our PRIDE, “I did that!…I made that!…I figured that out! Our ego, our pride.

We should be excited when we read Proverbs 16:9. Now let’s see what Paul says in Romans 8:28

“28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

God always has His eyes on our lives. Every detail is woven together so that the outcome will be beautiful. Sometimes it’s so tiny, so faded that we fail to see it. When we finally stop, breathe, listen and see what God’s doing, how precious. Usually it usually floors us RIGHT? Could any of you live with that this coming year? God’s timing, God’s leading, God’s path? I sure could.

James 2:14–16 “14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?”

The Apostle John tells us sometime after 70 AD, preaching to the Romans: Chapter 8, “17 If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? 18 Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”.....

So John is telling us we have stuff to do. We have to be giving the needy coats, giving the hungry food, giving the lonely attention and love.

Unfortunately, sorrows, heartaches, failures, and disappointments play a big part in our lives just like great achievements and accomplishments play a major part in our world. God is with us in all of these situations.

Psalm 37:23 “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”.....If we let Him.

Jeremiah 10:23 “I know, Lord, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course."..........He will…If we let Him.

Let’s ask ourselves a question. Are we asking our Father for Guidance? Are we asking our Father for His will to be done? Are we asking God that in all we do, “Let us Glorify You Father?
