Christmas Wish List
Christmas Wish List
INTRODUCTION: "What do you want for Christmas?"
This question is asked many times by friends and loved ones. Here are three things I want for Christmas:
THE REVIVAL OF THE SAINTS
As I travel in evangelistic work from church to church and state to state, I find that one of the greatest needs in our churches is the need for revival among the people of God.
Charles G. Finney gave this definition of revival:
"A revival is the renewal of the first love of Christians, resulting in the awakening and conversion of sinners to God. It consists in the return of a church from her backslidings, and in the conversion of sinners."
My prayer to God is, "Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?"—Psalm 85:6
Wilt thou not revive us again:
That thy people may rejoice in thee?
THE REGENERATION OF THE SINNERS
I long for sinners to be saved.
I pray for sinners to be saved.
I know that if people are not saved they are on their way to an eternal hell, to be forever separated from God.
I travel over this country preaching the Word of God, warning people to "flee from the wrath to come"—Matthew 3:7
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Beseeching them to be "reconciled to God"—II Corinthians 5:20
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
Reminding them of Jesus' command, "Ye must be born again"—John 3:7
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Pleading with them to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior so that they will be born again—John 1:12, 13.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
"Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for [people] is, that they may be saved"—Romans 10:1
Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
THE RETURN OF THE SAVIOUR
As I see sin on every hand, as I see the awful condition this country and the world is in, and realize that things and people are going to get even worse—II Timothy 3:13
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
My heart cries out the last prayer of the Bible, "Even so, come, Lord Jesus"—Revelation 22:20.
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
Christ wants us to love his appearing, and offers "a crown of righteousness ..." to all who do—II Timothy 4:8.
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
In the meantime, I want to obey His command, "Occupy till I come"—Luke 19:13
And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
CONCLUSION:
The time is short!
If thou wouldst work for God it must be now; If thou wouldst win the garland for thy brow, redeem the time.
With His reward He comes; He tarries not; His day is near; When men least look for Him will He be here; prepare for Him!
