Swaddling clothes

Swaddling clothes were used by the levitical shepherds for the lambs, born for sacrifice. These lambs had to be perfect and without blemish. The swaddling clothes were a protection against anything that would damage them or cause them to be unfit for sacrifice. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that without faith we cannot please God. It is by faith that the baby Jesus was swaddled and prepared for sacrifice. The same faith that was present at his birth was displayed throughout his life and death.
Luke 2:7 KJV 1900
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Matthew

Matthew 1:18 KJV 1900
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Matthew 1:19 KJV 1900
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
Matthew 1:20 KJV 1900
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Matthew 1:21 KJV 1900
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Matthew 1:22 KJV 1900
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Matthew 1:23 KJV 1900
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Matthew 1:24 KJV 1900
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
Matthew 1:25 KJV 1900
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

I. The Faith of Joseph

Joseph had faith because of the Messenger of God.

A. Faith that overcame fear. v.20

B. Faith that overcame sacrifice. v.24,25

II. The Faith of Marry

Mary had faith in the Miracle of God. Luke 1:38, 46-56

A. She accepted what she couldn’t understand. v.38

B. She glorified in what God had done. v.46-56

Luke 1:38 KJV 1900
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
Luke 1:46–56 KJV 1900
And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: For, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; And holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him From generation to generation. He hath shewed strength with his arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, And exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; And the rich he hath sent empty away. He hath holpen his servant Israel, In remembrance of his mercy; As he spake to our fathers, To Abraham, and to his seed for ever. And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.

III. The Faith of the Shepherds

The Shepherds had faith because of the Multitude.
Luke 2:8–16 KJV 1900
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, Good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Beth-lehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

Their faith was birthed at the multitude who praised God.

How we praise God will effect the faith of others.

IV. The Faith of the Wise men.

The Wise Men had faith in the Manuscripts.
Matthew 2:3–9 KJV 1900
When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Beth-lehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Beth-lehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Beth-lehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

A. The Wisemen traveled by faith because of the Word of God.

Our faith will live or die depending upon our diet of Gods Word.

B. Because the Believed the Word of God they had no problem obeying the will of God.
