In 2015 a movie Straight of of Compton was released. It was the Biopic of NWA. This title took on its own power. Folks had Shirts made identifying the hood they came from. It was like street cred. Even Churches took on the phrase. Straight out of various churches became the in thing. Well whats the significance of Jesus being called out of Egypt. Why Egypt? The Children of Israel have a love hate relationship with Egypt. They settled in Egypt during Joseph’s time as second in command only to find themselves in 400 years of slavery. It is the Passover (Exodus) that commemorates the departure of out of Egypt.
Understanding Egypt gives us a better idea of Jesus and his family, Being the first born of Mary and Joseph Jesus likely spent two to 4 years of his life in the shadow of HEROD looking to destroy him. Egypt would be his place of refuge. The place God had designate where he would be safe. So where is Egypt?
It is located on Northern east part of the continent of Africa. I say this because we have been mis-educated when it comes to Jesus. We see images of three wise men and baby Jesus in a stable and we take those events as Gospel. Yes Jesus was born in a stable. How do I know? The Bible says it. Luke 2:7-7 6 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. (Lk 2:6–7). Were there three wise men in the stable NO! The Bible says Matthew 2:1-2 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him. (2016). (Mt 2:1–2). When Jesus was born they were in the East. The wise men ( Magi) likely traveled (by camel) an average of 10 miles per day for 2–1/2 years to get to the toddler Jesus. That is 9,125 miles estimated (one-way). So when they reached Jesus he was a young child. This is why we see when the y arrived they entered the house and the YOUNG CHILD was with his mother.
Honor HIS Selection
This was to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet, “Out of Egypt I called my son.” (Mt 2:15). Hosea 11:1 prophesy and out of Egypt I called my son!
Jesus Fulfill every prophecy spoken of him.
1. Genesis 3:15
“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel
2. Genesis 12:3
“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
”In this verse, God is making a promise to Abraham that he would make him into a great nation. As part of that promise he tells him that all people on earth will be blessed through you. This blessing of all mankind points to the one who would redeem peoples from every tribe and tongue on the face of the earth. The blessing of salvation was for all who would believe.
Isaiah 7:14 ESV
14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”
Micah 5:2
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”
Follow His Direction
For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him. (Mt 2:2).
9 After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. (Mt 2:9).
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. (Mic 5:2).
Participate in His Adoration
11 And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. (Mt 2:11). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.
