Psalm 10:4

In his pride the wicked does not seek him;
in all his thoughts there is no room for God.
In the context, this verse is highlighting characteristics of a wicked person.
What are some of the characteristics mentioned?
We see in verse 4 that “In his pride the wicked does not seek him.” The phrase for pride literally means to the “height of his nose.” It is reflective of a snooty attitude. It is that person that proudly casts off the thoughts of God and all dependence on Him.
The fool says in his heart,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
there is no one who does good.
An oracle is within my heart
concerning the sinfulness of the wicked:
There is no fear of God
before his eyes.
This person makes self the same as God.
What takes up space in our lives that leaves no room for God?
busyness
a crowded life
pride
arrogance
What else?
What would help this person find room?
Why do you think God creates us in a way that we can choose to make room for Him or not?
What happens when we choose to know Him?
I think we realize His love, His grace, His mercy and His goodness. We want to become His redeemed.
We see that the redeemed have sins forgotten.
No longer will a man teach his neighbor,
or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the Lord.
“For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.”
There is an old Christmas Carol that I love by Emily Elliott.
Thou didst leave Thy throne and Thy kingly crown,
When Thou camest to earth for me;
But in Bethlehem’s home was there found no room
For Thy holy nativity.
Refrain 1-4:
O come to my heart, Lord Jesus,
There is room in my heart for Thee.Heaven’s arches rang when the angels sang,
Proclaiming Thy royal degree;
But of lowly birth didst Thou come to earth,
And in great humility.The foxes found rest, and the birds their nest
In the shade of the forest tree;
But Thy couch was the sod, O Thou Son of God,
In the deserts of Galilee.Thou camest, O Lord, with the living Word,
That should set Thy people free;
But with mocking scorn and with crown of thorn,
They bore Thee to Calvary.When the heav’ns shall ring, and her choirs shall sing,
At Thy coming to victory,
Let Thy voice call me home, saying “Yet there is room,
There is room at My side for thee.”
Refrain 5:
My heart shall rejoice, Lord Jesus,
When Thou comest and callest for me.
I have discovered that God does big things in small places. If you give Him a little room, He has a beautiful way of doing something phenomenally great.
Then the angel of the Lord moved on ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn, either to the right or to the left.
Give God the tight places of your heart and watch what He does!
