BAPTISM IN THE HOLY GHOST 04/03/2002

·         Luke 4:18-19 Jesus receivng “The Anointing” being “Christed”

Luke 4:18-19 (KJV)18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Sinless Son of God, yet he had to be empowered from on high…how can we expect to receive this baptism any other way.

The new birth and the Baptism in the Holy Ghost are two separate events

·         Isaiah 61:1-2 is the prophecy of the power of the coming Messiah

Isaiah 61:1-2 (KJV)1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

·         Peter at the empty tomb of Jesus was born again as we know Romans 10:8-10

Romans 10:8-10 (KJV)8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

         Peter had confessed Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God in Matthew 16:16-18, and

       now he has seen the resurrected Lord. This fulfills all that Paul has stated in Romans

       10:8-10

·         Acts 8:9-19 Simon the Sorcerer and the laying on of hands to receive The Baptism in the Holy Ghost

Acts 8:15-17 (KJV)15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

·         Acts 19:1-8 Paul at Ephesus is asking if they have received the Holy Spirit since they have believed. The evidence of this was speaking in tongues, of prophecy, and verse 8 speaks of confessing Christ boldly.

·         Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost and with power. This also show speaking in tongues as evidence of being filled by the Holy Ghost.

·         Acts 2:4 “as The Spirit gave them utterance.” Speaking in tongues

·         Acts 9:8-18 with Ananias and then Saul of Tarsus. Ananias laid hands on Saul to restore his sight, and Saul was at that time filled with the Holy Ghost. Healing and the filling of the Holy Ghost at one time, but Saul was born again on the road to Damascus.

·         These signs follow a baptism in the Holy Ghost, boldness in proclaiming Christ, the power of God being manifested in miracles, and the speaking of tongues.
