                                                                                            THE CALL TO COMMITMENT

Exodus 3:1‑12

INTRODUCTION

God is Constantly Call People to a Commitment to Him!

God is a work all around us - we must join Him if we are ever going to fulfill His purpose.

Whenever God intends to do something He always tells His people

God will only work in and through committed people.

“Less than total surrender is rebellion toward God.” Charles Stanley

How can you know when God is calling you to commit?

Three Elements in God’s Call

1A.       THE PROVIDENTIAL NATURE OF THE CALL

1B.       The Preparation

Two‑Thirds of his life is gone.

1C.       Preparation in the house of Pharaoh  (2:5‑10) - 40 years

2C.       Preparation in the desert of Midian (2:16‑22) - 40 years

(Genesis 45:7)  But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

2B.       The Place (v.1)

1C.       Blessed

Horeb ‑ "The mountain of God" Part of Mount Sinai where Moses will later receive the Ten Commandments

2C.       Backside

Side toward Egypt

May have been an Egyptian mining project using Hebrews there

The best place to be is God has put you there!

3C.       Barren

Nothing there but God!

2A.       THE PERSONAL NATURE OF THE CALL  (vv.2‑6)

1B.       Unique To Moses  (vv.2‑3)

1C.       What it pictures

The Bush - Thornbush = Israel's humiliation

The Fire - Israel's affliction

The Fact - Not consumed ‑ Israel's preservation

2C.       What it proclaims

God's presence

God’s purpose

2B.       Understood by Moses (v.4)

1C.       God called Moses by name

2C.       God called Moses to Himself not to a task.

(Matthew 4:18‑19)  As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. {19} "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

3A.       THE PURPOSEFUL NATURE OF THE CALL  (vv.7‑10)

Purpose is found in the answer of Four Questions...

1B.       Who is God?

1C.       He is Holy  (v.5)

Wherever you find God you find "Holy Ground"

2C.       His is Almighty  (v.6)

3C.       He is Eternal (14)

2B.       Who are You? (10-11)

1C.  God chooses who He wants

God always has someone to send

2C.  God chooses when he wants

3C.  God chooses how he calls

3B.       To Whom do You Belong?

(1 Corinthians 6:19)  Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

4B.       Why am I Here?

(Matthew 5:16)  In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise (glorify) your Father in heaven.
