Love life

last week we saw how we are blessed
we need to bless those who persecute us
how we are to prepare for persecution, Be a prepper
1 Peter 3:8–9 LEB
8 And finally, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, showing mutual affection, compassionate, humble, 9 not repaying evil for evil or insult for insult, but on the other hand blessing others, because for this reason you were called, so that you could inherit a blessing.
the secret to loving life
and seeing our prayers heard
1 Peter 3:10–12 LEB
10 For “The one who wants to love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips must not speak deceit. 11 And he must turn away from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.

Who Can Harm You?

1 Peter 3:13 LEB
13 And who is the one who will harm you if you are a zealous adherent for what is good?
if you are obeying the law
blessing those who hurt you
have an upright standing in front of God (sins confessed)
you are in subjection to leadership
we can assume here that there is no need for correction here by God
all your sins are confessed
1 Peter 3:17 LEB
17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if God wills it, than for doing evil.
Your suffering can only happen if The Father wills it
he has a purpose, for the good for you to suffer
maybe it’s to increase or faith
1 Peter 1:7 LEB
7 so that the genuineness of your faith, more valuable than gold that is passing away, but is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
maybe it’s to increase our Christlikeness
Romans 8:28 LEB
28 And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose,
our suffering is a product of Gods Sovereignty and Providence
The face of Jesus must be very near our own when the thorns from his crown of suffering are pressing our brow and hurting us. Anon.

Righteous Suffering

1 Peter 3:14 LEB
14 But even if you might suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not be afraid of their intimidation or be disturbed,
Even if Christ is right there with us
and the indwelling of our supernatural comforter
2 Corinthians 4:16–18 LEB
16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but even if our outer person is being destroyed, yet our inner person is being renewed day after day. 17 For our momentary light affliction is producing in us an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure and proportion, 18 because we are not looking at what is seen, but what is not seen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is not seen is eternal.
Revelation 2:10 LEB
10 Do not be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison so that you may be tested, and you will experience affliction ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
we must have the attitude of being able to receive a spiritual blessing
Do not be intimidated
1 Peter 3:14 LEB
14 But even if you might suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not be afraid of their intimidation or be disturbed,
don’t be controlled by fear
the world right now is being controlled by fear of the corona
churches have a fear of opening
Christians have a fear of leaving their homes
Vaccine back to normal?
who are going to trust in?
the Government , or God
the Israelites were asked the same question
Isaiah 8:11–15 LEB
11 For Yahweh said this to me while his hand weighed heavily on me, and he warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying, 12 “You must not call conspiracy everything that this people calls conspiracy, and you must not share its fear, and you must not be in dread. 13 You shall regard Yahweh of hosts as holy, and he is your fear, and he is your dread. 14 And he will become like a sanctuary and a stumbling-stone, and like a stumbling-rock for the two houses of Israel, like a trap and a snare for the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 And many shall stumble among them, and they shall fall and they shall be broken, and they shall be ensnared and they shall be caught.”

Set Christ as Adonai

don’t be intimidated or disturbed/troubled
troubled Most of the NT uses of tarasso are figurative and describe the state of one's mind as stirred up, agitated or experiencing inward commotion. it conveys the sense of emotional disturbance or inner turmoil, so that one is unsettled, thrown into confusion, or disturbed by various emotions, including excitement, perplexity, fear or trepidation.
1 Peter 3:15 LEB
15 but set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense to anyone who asks you for an accounting concerning the hope that is in you.
How do we “sanctify Christ as Lord” in our hearts? We daily motivated by the Spirit and love surrender our will to His . We voluntarily and with joy turn everything over to Him, and live only to please Him and glorify Him. It means we fear displeasing Him rather than fear what men might say about us as His disciples or what they might do to us. And one evidence that Christ is Lord in our lives is the readiness with which we tell others about Him.
Jesus is our redeemer, the Head of the Church,
as our Adonai He is our provider
Protector
possessor
Master
is Jesus our Lord or is fear our lord?
when have two masters there is confusion/ to many chiefs, not enough....
then when people see you different
Be prepared
you can witness to the greatness of God
Make a defence
Acts: 26 5
so that
1 Peter 3:16 LEB
16 But do so with courtesy and respect, having a good conscience, so that in the things in which you are slandered, the ones who malign your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame.
with a good conscious
courtesy and respect
out behavior has to back up out belief

Jesus Our Example

1 Peter 3:18 LEB
18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, in order that he could bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit,
be encouraged to know that Jesus is our example
the Father wanted to bring us to Himself
for that to happen Jesus Had to die
in order for anyone to to have any hope Jesus
Jesus suffered for sins
our selfishness, self centerednesss
we commit sins because we are only thinking of ourselves
that leads to self hate, guiltiness
guilt is always accompanied by fear
when we are saved Jesus takes that guilt away
But we continue to think and do for ourselves and in fear
faith — fear
Jesus was thinking of me on the cross
We need to think of Him in our lives
