Overcoming Evil With Good

This is not a new concept.
Genesis 12:2-3 (NIV)- "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."
Matthew 5:39-41 (NIV)-“But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.”
Things we need in order to overcome evil with good…
1. We must have true_________________.
Romans 12:9 (NIV)- “Love must be sincere.”
Romans 12:9 (Message)- “Love from the center of who you are; don't fake it.”
I Corinthians 13:8 (NIV)- “Love never fails.”
2. We must have_________________.
Romans 12:10 (NIV)- “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love”.
Romans 12:10 (Message)- “Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle.”

Romans 12:16 (NIV)- “Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.”
Side Note: Pride is the main thing that will get in the way of overcoming evil with good.

Romans 12:13 (NIV)- “Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”
I John 3:17-18 (NIV)- “If any one of you has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in you? Dear Children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and truth.

Romans 12:11 (NIV)- “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”
Romans 12:11 (Message)- “…keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don't quit in hard times; pray all the harder.”
