Sermon #1 God Created Us: Gen 1:27, 5:2,

Definition of destiny

1: something to which a person or thing is destined : FORTUNE wants to control his own destiny
2: a predetermined course of events often held to be an irresistible power or agency felt that destiny would determine their future
1. Creation versus Evolution: We say he created us but we live like we are a product of evolution. We make decisions based solely on what we want, not what he says.
A. We cannot change who we are simply because we want to - physically or psychologically. Psalm 139:14, I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made, Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.
Is 29:16, You turn things around!
Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay,
That what is made would say to its maker, “He did not make me”;
Or what is formed say to him who formed it, “He has no understanding”?
Is 45:9, “Woe to the one who quarrels with his Maker—
An earthenware vessel among the vessels of earth!
Will the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you doing?’
Or the thing you are making say, ‘He has no hands’?
Is 64:8, But now, O LORD, You are our Father,
We are the clay, and You our potter;
And all of us are the work of Your hand.
B. We cannot decide our destiny simple because it is what we want.
Rom 9:20-21, On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, “Why did you make me like this,” will it?
21 Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use?
22 What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction?
2 Tim 2:20, Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor.
2. If God created us: He has the right to make us how he chooses and for what he desires.
A. We must accept how he made us. He made us in his likeness and image. Gen 1:27, 5:2,
B. We must accept what he wants us to do.
Gen 2:15, 19, Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. 19 Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name.
20 The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him.
Psalm 102:18, This will be written for the generation to come,
That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD.
Psalm 148:5, Let them praise the name of the LORD,
For He commanded and they were created.
