Christmas Eve

Matthew 1:20–23 NIV
20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
Christmas is a time of reflection and listening to God.
He may have been feeling like his Great Great…Grandfather King David
Psalm 40:1–5 NIV
1 I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. 4 Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. 5 Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.
When you think about what God has done can you praise as David did
“He set my feet on a rock...”?
Or maybe you feel like you are in that slimy pit not able to get out.
This Christmas I encourage you to be like Mary and Joseph and say yes to Immanuel.
Whether you are on the rock or in the pit there is more hope.

The Shepherds understood and celebrated the birth of Jesus by worshiping and telling others.
The shepherds Knew Jesus was not just a baby, but He was the savor of the world.
Isaiah 9:6–7 NIV
6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
Just like David they recognized that God sent Jesus to pull them out of the slimy pit and set them on a rock.
Saving them from their fears, worries, sins, and death.
This Christmas Eve I encourage you to allow Immanuel to be your Wonderful Counselor
The one who will listen to ALL your problems
The one who will point you in the right direction
Mighty God
The one who save you from you sins and mistakes
The one who can change your situation
Everlasting Father
The one who gives the best hugs
The one who will instruct and correct
Prince of Peace
The one who will give you peace to say yes
The one who give hope for tomorrow
The Purpose of Jesus Christ coming to earth is so that you and I can have salvation.
Salvation is the satisfaction of hope
The Hope Isaiah and David wrote about is fulfilled in the coming of Jesus. Because of Christmas we can have salvation that gives us real hope.
